Water Marble Valentines Design

Water Marbling your nails may look terrifying and complicated, but I promise you it's simple! There are a few basic rules you have to follow. One of them is you need to use, and I cannot stress this enough, room temperature water. Preferably water that is purified. I usually just use a water from one of my water bottles laying around from earlier in the day. The nail polishes can really be any kind you have. You'll find as you do it some nail polishes spread better than others. You'll need a shallow dish or cup to use for this. Something you won't use again. I use the really small paper dixie cups for the bathroom for after brushing your teeth or whatever. I have a ton of them and they're disposable! Here's a list of the items you'll need:
~ Room Temperature Water
~ Small shallow container
~ 3-4 Nail Polishes in your choice of colors
~ Toothpicks or Orange Stick
~ Scotch Tape
~ Paper Towels

First thing you are going to want to do is prep your area. Make sure you have a paper towel down and the container is filled with the water. Get your toothpicks or orange stick within easy to grab range.
Paint your nails a base color, for this particular design I used white.

Let your nails dry completely. I do my nails one at a time. So, for the next step, tape one finger. You are going to use roughly 3-4 maybe even 5 small pieces of tape. You want to tape each side so the edge of the tape is against the nail and the back as well as the top. Make sure the only thing exposed for the majority of the finger is only the nail.

Now comes the fun/creative part. You're going to want to make sure all your nail polishes have the tops set askew for easy grabbing as you need to do this part somewhat fast. You are going to drop the nail polishes one by one in drop form into the container. Choose what colors you want each ring to start out in and go in. I set the polishes in that order for easier working with. After you have all the rings (I usually do at least 6 rings) you will take your toothpick or orange stick and swirl in designs. Any design you want. The more you do this the more designs you'll figure out how to make. It's all trial and error. If you don't like the design you have simply let it dry in the container for about a minute then take a tooth pick or the orange stick and swirl it around to start over for the nail.

Now dip your nail into the water where you think the design looks best in the container. ONLY DIP ONCE! I cannot stress that enough. Once your nail is submerged wait a minute or two. Do not lift your nail out of the water yet. After a minute has passed, take your toothpick or orange stick and clean up the nail polish on the surface. Once the area is clean remove your finger from the water and allow it to rest on a paper towel for about another minute. Remove tape. Removing the tape will you show you why that tape was so important lol. Allow nail to dry all the way and then seal with your favorite top coat.

I hope you enjoyed this Blog. If you have any questions about this technique feel free to leave me comments below or tell me how you did yours and what colors you used!

January 2012 Birch Box!!!

YAY! I got my birch box this month! I got it on the 9th or so but, I didn't want to write this until I had tried out my products. It was a terrific month <3 I am SUPER pleased about what I got. The box was definitely worth more than the 10 dollar monthly fee. So, let's get started on this!

The first thing I pulled out, which was the most exciting thing in my box, was my Stilla full size Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner <3 OMG I WAS SO EXCITED!! I was worried I was going to get it in one of the colors that wouldn't work with my eyes. I got Lionfish, which was exactly perfect. It's kind of a bronze dark brown with some gold in it. It is super pretty. It glides on very smooth. It's also one that you don't need a sharpener for, it twists up. The waterproof part I actually tested lol. I put a swatch of it on my hand and carried on as normal throughout the day. This involves a LOT of washing my hands. It stayed very well in the same place, which pleased me quite a bit. Overall, I am SUPER happy about this. It costs twenty dollars for this product, so right there I paid half and got some samples in this box. <3

The next thing I got was a Juicy Couture perfume. I actually ended up giving it to my mother. Perfumes to me are extremely personal. It's not a bad scent. It's very floral and you can detect a hint of spicy cinnamon type scent in it as well. It's like a spicy floral scent haha. It's pleasant... but it's just not for me. I'm more of a clean smell kind of girl.

Origins Checks and Balances Froth Face Wash was the next thing I got. Now for myself, face wash is a hard thing for me to use. My face never breaks out unless I use a face wash. I have tried literally all of them under the sun and none of them work. I tried this one even still, and I like it more than any I've used. I haven't used it enough to see if it makes my face break out, but I did like the immediate after results. When it comes out of the tube it kind of smells and feel like toothpaste, not joking. But then when you put some warm water on it and put it on your face man does it lather! And the lather is a super soft, silky smooth kind of lather. It rinses easily and your face is left feeling super refreshed, soft, and clean.

I tried out the Archipalago Pomegranate Body Soap the same time I tried the face wash. I am not a huge bar soap fan. It always leaves that filmy, weird, dry feeling on my skin. This one did a little bit but not too noticeably. So that was nice, the smell is really good if you like fruity body washes or soaps, which I do. I probably won't use it unless I run out of body wash and have forgotten to buy more as that does tend to happen haha. But it's nice.

I got a "lifestyle extra" which was a Larabar. It was carrot cake flavored. Personally, I can't stand carrot cake so I gave it to my boyfriend to try. He hated it. He said it tasted like really bad carrot cake with fibrous and grainy pieces of raw carrot in it. He just said it was terrible. SO there's that.

My "treat" of the month was a pink magnet of their logo. A lot of people were not impressed by this but I for one love it! I am always needing more magnets.. I'm one of those people that likes to put pictures of my friends and their kids on my fridge haha.

Well that's my birch box blog!! Here's a photo of the card that has all the products and details on it for you to look at if you want to see what they said about each product <3 hope you enjoyed!
